What Works in Marketing Today… and What Doesn’t?

Ten years ago it started to become very noticeable… that reaching people with marketing and advertising… had become more difficult.

It’s a trend that started before that… and has become increasingly evident… ever since.

Today people are…

  1. Distracted and have very little attention span
  2. Overloaded mentally just keeping up with change
  3. Overwhelmed with marketing messages

Then you come along with a product you’re excited about… (with the best intentions…) and others ignore you and/or put you on mute.

In the past… my style of building a large network marketing business had been based on relationships and my group and I spent a lot of time together which created community.

I couldn’t see how I could create the same connection with internet marketing and social media, that I had achieved in the past… but the world had changed and I was committed to figuring it out.

What Works in Marketing Today… and What Doesn’t?

In 2018 I went after it!

-I build a new website and started a blog

-Created a Facebook business page

-Created two Facebook group pages

-Wrote several free reports

-Learned video production

-Learned video editing

-Learned how to build and market marketing funnels

-And learned all the the programs… necessary to do all of that

What Works in Marketing Today... and What Doesn't?

 

I promised myself that I was going to figure it out even if it killed me… and it almost did! Well not really… but I was completely overloaded learning it all… let alone operating it all.

I also experimented on new people to see what they could take, with just a small amount of what I was learning… their eyes would glaze over.

 

I thought, how could I ever duplicate this and rally an organization around doing the process… and who has time to learn all of this today?

It would have been like duplicating… how to build a rocket ship!

The other problem… is that it wasn’t solving the problem of people having no attention span, being overloaded and over sold too.

I was just another marketer… adding to the noise.

What Works in Marketing Today… and What Doesn’t?

When I decided to build a business in network marketing in the late 1980s… it was to create a profitable, low stress business that paid for life. Even though I was glad to learn all of this… this was certainly not loss stress!

But I finally did solve it.

I have always known… that this business was more of a teaching business than sales… and that certainly hadn’t changed!

People today though, have the attention span to be educated… unless they are looking for what you have. You are just noise.

I explain this in more detail in the video below…. but the only way to get really get noticed today…

  1. Is to pick a niche and specialize… (instead of trying to be everything to everyone)
  2. Explain the problem you solve… (not the details)
  3. Mention the frustration people have… who have the problem… (so they can relate to your message)
  4. Tell them that you’ve found a solution to the problem… (to earn their trust)

Once you understand how to do this properly… you will never get rejected again… and you will have people coming to you… like what happened to me!
